The exact cause of type 1 diabetes is not yet known. It is likely that there is more than one -- genetics, environment, and so on. While the medical community continues to work on pinpointing the exact cause, the uncertainty can influence us profoundly.
Does not knowing the exact cause of diabetes concern you? If so, how does the uncertainty affect how you approach caring for yourself or looking after the health of your family?

- the use of ultrasound during pregnancy, labor and delivery is also on the rise; as well as drugs being given during labor/delivery. Are there any studies being done to confirm or refute a possible connection between these and the rise of type 1 diabetes? or between these and other autoimmune diseases on the rise?

- It does concern me because if we knew what caused it, it would probably help find a cure or at least prevent it. Another cause for concern is passing it along genetically
